Strawberry Almond Protein Shake

Strawberry Almond Protein Shake:
[17.5 grams protein, 300 calories]
5 Strawberries [frozen]
1 Banana
1 tbsp Flaxseed
1 cup Unsweetened Almond Milk
1 scoop Whey Protein Powder
Almond Flakes [optional]

1. Place ingredients in blender and pulse until chunk-free. [makes just under 3 cups of shake]
2. Add handful of almond flakes for texture if desired.

** I have started adding a half tablespoon of almond butter, it helps mask the protein flavor for those of you who have an aversion to it like me, it's SO yummy, it adds about 45 calories & 2 grams of protein

I started making this shake last week when I realized that my 6 dollar a day whole foods shake habit was getting ridiculous. Honestly do they put liquid gold into those things? Yummy shakes are so quick, easy & cheap to make. I based this off a shake I got at Whole Foods but added protein powder & flaxseed. It keeps you full for hours, has 17.5 grams of protein & only has 300 calories!

Oh & in the pictures above I added some almond flakes, admittedly to improve the photographic quality of the shake; however, when I got around to actually eating the shake the almond flakes added a yummy crunchy texture that I highly recommend!

  1. I'm pretty plain when it comes to protein shakes; I just do almond milk and protein powder, but this one looks good! I've been meaning to get flaxseed to add to some recipes. Have you tried chia seeds?

  2. I make a shake for breakfast every day that has strawberries, blueberries and raspberries as well as almond milk and vanilla protein powder! It's such a nice treat in the summer!
